“Fr. Peter Balleis, SJ, a leading advocate of refugee and forcibly displaced persons’ rights, has been fighting for human rights and social justice with Jesuit Refugee Services for more than 20 years. As executive president of Jesuit Worldwide Learning, Fr. Peter works toward a more peaceful world using the power of education. Learn more about Jesuit Worldwide Learning and support their efforts here”
Jesuit Worldwide Learning provides equitable high-quality tertiary learning to people and communities at the margins of societies. Supporting people directly affected by poverty, location, lack of opportunity, conflict or forced displacement. Providing people with the opportunity to contribute their knowledge and voices to the global community of learners. Supporting the idea that together it is possible to create a more peaceful and humane world.
They use three principles for its model of tertiary learning
‘This not for profit organisation admits students of any race, colour, national origin, and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school’. JWL
‘It does not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, national origin, and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs’.JWL
Working with organisations like JWL is something for which MyInform was created.
We hope very much to link up with Fr Balleis, SJ and others at Jesuit Worldwide Learning. Providing an opportunity to help inform them optimally with input through MyInform, from refugees on the ground in real time, so JWL may optimise the courses and programs they bring to refugee camps and other formal and informal groupings of displaced persons.
